The University of Wisconsin–Madison has been continuously accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) since 1913. The HLC is a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. It grants accreditation to colleges and universities in the North Central region of the U.S.
Every 10 years, the HLC performs a comprehensive review to reaffirm UW–Madison’s accreditation. Our last comprehensive review site visit was March 25–26, 2019. In June 2019, UW–Madison received notice of reaffirmation of accreditation, with the next comprehensive review scheduled for 2028-29.
